Rowland Homes are pleased to donate £3,000 towards the Grappenhall Heys Walled Garden ‘Shed in the Garden’ project.

Following the success of their ‘Have a go group’ which was set up to encourage ladies to try out new crafts, activities and interests, Grappenhall Heys Walled Garden were looking for a similar project to target men.

Kate Fitch, the Community Outreach Officer for Grappenhall Heys Walled Garden said “We are pleased that Rowland Homes decided to help out with our project as older men are at a risk of loneliness and often suffer barriers of isolation, this project would build skills and most importantly self-confidence and self-worth.”

Grappenhall Heys Walled Garden is an important part of the local community, set within 4 acres including a pleasure garden, kitchen garden and glasshouses.
The new ‘Shed in the Garden’ project will consist of a new timber building with electrics, tools and workbenches from where small scale woodwork projects and refurbishing of gardens tools will take place.
