Autumn/Winter decorating trends

As the weather changes, we take a look at the inspiration online and on the high street and review the interiors trends that will see us through the winter months. Trends can include paint colours, furniture and fabrics but the beauty of it is, you don’t need to redecorate your whole house, or break the bank to be on-trend. Adding a few key pieces or accessories can update a whole scheme.

1. Nature

There are so many accessories to choose from this autumn which bring some nature into our homes. Think plum and damson paint colours with berries and lots of natural wood. Animal cushions, crockery and prints are key to bringing the outdoors in and Ideal Home also says that dried flowers are on the increase with searches up 345% on Pinterest year on year. Select the right stems and vase and they can look stunning on an island, on bedside cabinets or a table centrepiece.

Sainsbury’s Home has some stunning pieces following an Alice in Wonderland theme and recommend dark wall colours including navy, burgundy and other jewel tones and has some great accessories to show off the new colour scheme.

For some added rural country charm why not hang a large canvas to really make a statement? We love the selection at The Range and the Angus Cow has to be one of our favourites. They’re also very well priced so you could even have more than one and go totally cow crazy!

2. Scandi

IKEA has predicted a more serene take on Scandi over the coming months with dusky pinks and greys. Wrap up in faux fur and chunky knits to complete the look and keep your heating costs down.
Stylish Interiors

With the Danish concept of ‘hygge’ now something most of us know about, Swedish ‘mysig’ shouldn’t be too much of a leap this winter. The term stands for making your home as cosy as possible during the winter months, so you can truly bunker down when the cold comes. Think big blankets, candles and warming food and drinks.

3. Luxe
Decadent fabrics and furniture with minimalist lighting can make a real statement. This season Matalan has some beautiful lighting and accessories that complement this theme.
Light It Up

As you can imagine gold features heavily in this scheme and there are so many high street choices out there that the hard part is deciding between them. Of course the good thing about Luxe is that often more is better so be sure to shop around and then indulge yourself. H&M has some stunning furniture and cushions to choose from not to mention gold side tables & rich velvet throws.
Follow this theme and you will not want to leave home until Spring 19……
