With a chill in the air and crunching leaves underfoot, Autumn 2016 has well and truly arrived. The new season heralds’ darker evenings, woolly jumpers and hearty dinners, and of course a whole new array of interiors trends.
If you’re keen to refresh your home, alongside your recipes and wardrobe, we’ve created a round up of the top styles to introduce at home, to turn your home to a cosy haven.
1. Add texture
Embrace heavier materials and add texture with traditional country prints, including tartan, tweed and velvet. Add curtains to keep your home warm or if you want to add this trend less permanently scatter cushions over your bed and sofa in tones that complement existing colour schemes.
2. Leafy tones
Be inspired by nature as the trees turn from green to yellow, orange, red and brown. Rusty shades of orange and red work well with neutrals and can be blended with your current colour scheme without breaking the bank. Consider picking up some accessories, such as vases, candlesticks or bed spreads in these tones to add some easy autumn warmth.
3. The Midas touch
2016 has been the year of the metallic, from fashion to beauty and interiors. Autumn is no different with bronze and gold big players in the interiors games. We’re loving metallic mirrors, candlesticks and exposed lighting to bring in the Midas touch and give homes a boutique hotel feel.
4. A splash of Mustard
No, not just on your Bonfire Night hot dogs, but also in your home, Mustard is a tasty trend that refuses to budge. A classic colour when combined with tones of charcoal, black and white, try introducing this tone with a feature wall, lampshade or headboard.
5. The Clash
Matchy matchy is ‘so’ last season and 2016/17 is all about the clash, whether it’s colour, textures or patterns. Be brave and embrace all things eclectic by clashing two or three bright bold colours. Providing you choose tones on the opposite sides of the colour wheel you should be fine – think emerald green and raspberry with an accent of grey.
Are you redecorating your home for autumn? If so, we’d love to see what trends you’re going for. Send us your before and afters and your makeover pics to our Facebook page and we’ll share our favourites.
